Continuing Education
Idaho's CE requirement:
Renew on active status - 16 elective hours plus one Idaho core course
Renew on inactive status - none
Inactive to active status (after first renewal period) - 16 elective hours plus one Idaho core course
*Must be completed before reactivating the license
IREC reviews all license renewals and reactivations for compliance with the CE requirements. If you don't have the required CE hours posted to your record, you will receive an audit letter. Keep your course completion certificates in a safe place!
Idaho's Core requirement:
All Idaho licensees must take a minimum of one Idaho Commission core course each renewal period. Other state's core courses will not count for this requirement. IREC strongly encourages taking the Idaho core every year to keep up with legislative changes and current case law. The second core course in a renewal period counts for CE elective credit.
* "Cracking the Code" is NOT the Commission core course!
How to find out if a course counts for CE credit:
Use the Public Database Search to search for certified courses, or contact the Commission for assistance. Some Professional Designation courses are also accepted for CE credit. These classes are listed as "certified" in the IREC database.
Find a scheduled CE course:
Visit the Public Database Search and select "Find a Class" - then enter search criteria and "Search". Click on individual courses to find more information about the course provider, cost, location, etc.
Using non-Idaho CE for Idaho license renewal:
IREC accepts many (but not all) courses taken in other jurisdictions, and some courses offered for other professions. Submit a Licensee Request for CE Credit form at least 60 days prior to your Idaho license renewal date. Courses must fit within Rule 402 (approved topics) for CE and must relate to real estate brokerage practice. Online courses must be ARELLO certified.
Active Duty Military?
You may be eligible for a waiver of your CE requirement for license renewal. Read the Commission's policy on exemptions for military persons, and contact the Commission if you have questions or need assistance.
